Welcome to the home page of ‘Acute Care’ SIG which is part of NZAOT. Members of NZAOT with an interest in the aims and key activities of the group are invited to join.

The group supports and promotes occupational therapy within acute care services. NZAOT encourages the sharing of information, expertise and skills by providing a national resource and networking system for its members.

Objectives

  • Increase the awareness for occupational therapists of the political and strategic directions for acute health care in New Zealand.
  • Have a focus on the wider developments in acute care and the impact of this on occupational therapy practice.
  • Promote occupational therapy within the field of acute care.
  • Facilitate the sharing of information with colleagues.
  • Provide mutual support for group members via an email list service.
  • Facilitate active involvement of the group members in relevant educational activities and opportunities.
  • Foster the development of this specialist area of occupational therapy practice.

Main activities

  • Key activity is email discussion and sharing of resources.
  • Face to face activity as arranged by the SIG
